Bottesford recycling and waste site to remain closed for maintenance work
The recycling and household waste site at Bottesford is to remain closed for several months to allow maintenance work to be carried out.
The site is among several currently closed due to staffing issues caused by the coronavirus pandemic and a national shortage of lorry drivers, but Leicestershire County Council has confirmed that it will now not reopen until essential drainage work is completed. The work is due to begin in mid-September and is expected to take around 12 weeks.
The Normanton Lane site was initially closed in January for the work to begin, but it had to be halted after traces of asbestos were discovered during initial investigations. Surveys have since been carried out at the site and it is now safe for the work to continue.
Residents are asked to use the Melton site during this time.
