Bottesford Parish Council takes an active role in addressing and managing flood risk within our area.
- Emergency Plan
The council has an Emergency Plan which provides councillors and other relevant parties clear guidance and information in the event of an emergency in the parish. The plan clearly outlines; roles and responsibilities, contact details for relevant agencies and, communication/response actions. The plan identifies areas known to be at risk from flooding to enable those involved to act quickly in delivering support and resources. The Plan is reviewed regularly and shared with all relevant agencies.
- Flood Wardens
Flood wardens are volunteers trained to help and prepare people in local communities that are at risk of flooding. They play an important role in the preparing a community flood plan and putting it in to practice.
Our flood warden assists the council in its flood resilience plans, monitors the condition of watercourses and liaises with relevant agencies where required.
- Flood Team
We are fortunate to have a team of volunteers who are not only happy to help the Parish Council activate its Emergency Plan in the event of a flood incident but who also have expertise to investigate, map and advise on the movement of water in our parish. This work
- Partnership working
The Parish Council recognises that, whilst we have within the community considerable willingness and expertise with regards to flood response, to facilitate a comprehensive response to the risks that exist and to get best results it is essential to work with all agencies and authorities that have powers and responsibilities in this area. The council is seeking to work with; the Environment Agency, Trent Valley Internal Drainage Board, the Canal and River Trust, the Lead Local Flood Authority, and the Borough and County Council to ensure best results.
